guide to Gran Canaria

Things to do »

In this section we provide a guide to sites that offer whole lists of things to do in Gran Canaria. If you want to do something other than sunbathe by the pool or drink in the Bars, you can go on organised day trips for every day of the week. Each day involves a different mode of transport, so you can choose from a jeep drive, catamaran trip, downhill bike ride, quad bike tour etc.

Book early in the week as most excursions have limited places and are soon sold out. Also bring an alarm clock with you, because the trips often begin earlier than 10am and you won't get your money back if you oversleep.!

In the Going Out section are more links and information on Shops, Restaurants, etc, while in the Travel section we provide lots more information on the Bus and taxi service and airports. Our recommendations also tells you what you should try not to miss!

For Gran Canaria accommodation, we provide a fast, secure and immediate online booking service. Book online now... Apartments in Gran Canaria

The official tourist board site for Gran Canaria. Good for tourist guides and maps.

Somewhat idiosyncratic guide to edited by a long term visitor. Very useful for planning trips to major attractions.

www.spain-grancanaria.com/uk/index.html
Easily the best, most comprehensive Gran Canaria guide. The beach guide is candid ("Puerto Rico beach has become too small for the amount of visitors it attracts from the over constructed neighbourhood and is always overcrowded... "), enhanced by a fine photo of each strand. The sightseeing attractions (far more than any other Canary site) are covered in the same way.

Readable account of a bicycle trip around the island, with some of the better Gran Canaria photos on the internet.

From the All About Spain guide: Good maps, some very basic overviews of the individual islands, along with some photos.
